Exciting news!

In my first update (you know, the first one since last September --eeks) I mentioned that Brian had something up his sleeve. Well, after a very l-o-n-g season of not knowing answers to so many questions, I am SO EXCITED to tell you that he will be teaching at Blackhawk Christian in the fall!

For now, it's just first semester, but we are so THANKFUL for what this job means for us right now.

First of all, BCS is where I graduated from. I was only there for HS, but it has so many fond memories for me and I am beyond thankful that I was able to be there during that season of my life. I'm an introvert. Large crowds have always freaked me out a little. Just the thought of a public school gave me the creeps. It's just how I'm wired. But HS was also a very critical time in my development as a person, a student, a female, and a follower of Christ. I didn't always make the best choices, and I have a lot of things I would change if I could do it again, but I have always had my relationship with the Lord and my time at Blackhawk played a huge role in my journey.

Secondly, as much as I hate to admit it, Makenna has my wiring for being introverted. She does much better with the smaller class size and Brian & I have had many discussions about trying to keep her in private school as long as we can. This is where she went to preschool last year and where she will return this year. She loved it, we loved it, and we're all looking forward to the start of the new year. We have seen so much growth in her -- overcoming certain phobias, developing her mind academically, and the sweetness of learning so much about the Lord. She loves learning her Bible verses and asking questions about who God is, what He made, and reading her kids Bible.

Thirdly, the timing is great for our family. As I mentioned, this where Makenna will be going back for preschool... I'm having a baby in October. I was a little worried about sending her back when we didn't end up moving closer to the school and what I was going to do with a newborn & a 2 year old for three hours three times a week. But God had it figured out! Brian will be taking Kenna to school in the mornings when he goes in to work and then I just have to pick her up. I'm sure it won't be as simple as it sounds, but I'm confident that it will be much easier than killing time. :)

And lastly, Brian's excited. He'll be teaching 9 & 10 Bible, which is a great schedule since its just two classes to prep for. It's right up his alley and I think he will thoroughly enjoy his time there, even if only for the semester.

Thanks to those of you who have been faithfully praying for us!

Yay!!! Congrats!!! I know one of the teachers there--Nathan Hyde. He teaches Bible and some history classes and world religion classes. Nathan is a great guy; I hope that he and Brian can bond. :)
