Hey Sister, Soul Sister

I'm an only child. Did you know that? I was fortunate to acquire two sisters-in-law when I married my hubby, but I don't have any of my own.

Ever since I was a very little girl, I have always considered my close friends to be my psuedo siblings. Like egg substitute, but better.

Funny thing about sisters. They can be quite different and still be the best of friends. Or perhaps they are better friends when they aren't sharing the same space. Some sisters talk every day. Others live for those couple times a year face-to-face visits... Or maybe they are the most kindred of souls even though you've never met face-to-face. Blood sisters or soul sisters - either way, the bond of sisterhood is special.

Anyway, I realized I have a whole slew of soul sisters out there - lucky me! No two soul sisters are the same, and our situations of sisterhood are just as different. It would take me a long time to give a shout out to all my soul sisters (many are linked up on the left) but I do want to acknowledge my oldest group of soul sisters -- Heather, Kristy, and Jenny. There is just something special about a friend who has known you and loved you for almost as far back as you can remember. I treasure those conversations over sushi or starbucks where we lose track of time because for old friends one small rabbit trail leads to a dozen memories. And I take comfort in knowing that old friends will still love when you are feeling older than you want to be...
when you are overwhelmed and exhausted...
when you are picking up the pieces of your life...
when you are rediscovering your passions...
when you are overflowing with joy.

So to all my soul sisters out there, know that you are loved today. I am so very thankful for you and I am blessed by your friendship!

LOVE LOVE LOVE!

You know, I didn't even realize until after I got in my car that we had been at the restaurant for 3 hours. Hee Hee! Hope the waitress didn't mind. :)

You girls are such a joy to me. And I'm soooooo thankful for the friendship that I have in each and every one of you. Love you lots, Court!

Seriously. I just feel blessed by you girls! (Also feeling challenged to write a blog.) :)
I was trying to tell Tommy that night how much our time together meant and couldn't do so without tears. He said, "Why do you always cry when you talk about them?". I think it's just because my heart wells up with such thankfulness and gratitude for girlfriends I can be vulnerable with and love unconditionally and have it returned.
You ladies are the BEST.
