The details about Brian and I will come later, because we all know those of you reading this post really just want to see pictures of my children. And there are certainly plenty of pictures to view... even though most of you can see them on Facebook now.
Most importantly, I realized that I am not utilizing the blog world to it's full extent. I used to just think that blogs were for posting pictures for those who are far away. However, in the recent months it has become increasingly important to me to document what is going on in our house. Not just the pictures, but the stories and the dates. I'm not a scrapbooker. I love to create the pages - my problem is organization. The Blog is my best bet to document the girls' lives - the good days and the bad - and since Mattie just turned 1 (What?!) I'd better get crackin'.
So. Here we go. Today - Mattie's birthday pics. Tomorrow - 4th of July. And if I maintain my motivation... misc. summer pics by the weekend.
Here is Mattie's 1st bday cake. We had a red-white-and-blue party in honor of her July 1 birthday. OK, I found some deals on 4th of July goods and figured she wouldn't let me in a few years. :)
Birthday girl with cake face... forced cake face. She really only wanted to pick off the sprinkles. Right after this picture she started crying and trying to get the cake off her hands. Oops.
The kids all ate under our (tall) kitchen table. :) Our house is for sale... this is the only room without carpet! And, Grandma thought it would be fun - like a tent - she was right!
The birthday girl with one of her new presents... a new book! So glad to have not only something new to read, but something that wasn't already chewed on by her older sister when she was one. :)
Some post-party fun. Note the REALLY small elephant pool. At first Makenna & Sadie were playing in the Elmo sprinkler, but as soon as Mattie got in the pool, they HAD to join her. Hilariously crowded, don't you think?
The "big girl" cousins. I can't believe they are almost 3! I feel like I was just blogging about Makenna's first birthday. Oh wait, with my blog record, I probably did. ;)
Oh, I wanted to document that Mattie is waving, walking, eating real food, drinking from a sippy, saying Hi, Bye Bye, Baby, Mama, Dada, and has certain sounds she uses for specific things... dogs, fish, Ball, Book.
She thinks her sister is a riot. She is a mama's girl - I get lovies (hugs) all day from that girl. She loves all things water. And, most importantly, sleeps 13-14 hours at night. If only her sister would do the same. :)
