Keeping my promise!

Me again. Wanted to post the only 2 pics I captured on Mattie's actual birthday. A few things to note... our favorite activity is going to our local outdoor mall - Jefferson Pointe, fondly dubbed "The JP" in our house - where they have this fabulous fountain that both girls LOVE. July 1st was actually a cold day here, hence the grey skies and blue jeans, but we were determined to get out and celebrate (and by "we" I mean "I"). I decked Mattie out in a party shirt, shoes, and a Pretty in her hair (she removes and eats both the shoes and the Pretty, but I was determined). I mention this because this picture is the last time I saw my favorite brown flower Pretty. It didn't make it home with us. Mattie is in the throwing stage. I'm sure some other little girl found it after we left it and took it home as her own. So sad.


This also documents how much Makenna loves loving on her baby sister. In this picture she had just finished saying "Aww, Mattie, it's your birthday. I love you so much!" Seriously. She's very cute when she talks to Mattie, especially now that Mattie is kind of talking back... or at least laughing and waving. :)




Here we are all decked out in our Cold Weather version of 4th of July clothes... the warm weather ones were cuter, but it was cold and drizzly here. Yuck. Ridiculous that they are wearing long sleeves and sweaters.


To celebrate the 4th we went out to our friend Elaine's house in Huntington - about 20ish minutes from here, for those unfamiliar with the area. We had a lovely time with cookout feastings and good friends and kept the girls up late for the fireworks at the HS. These pics are taken from the back of the van, where we were planning on enjoying the fireworks...until it rained and the fireworks were postponed. I had a very tired and disappointed 2 year old. No tears, though. We packed up and headed home... and found a small town display on our way! Just enough to get the idea of what the 4th is about to a child! Makenna thought they were pretty, but they were too loud.
