Here's the thing - I'm just not a gift person. Sorry to disappoint you gift-givers out there. And I especially don't like to get a gift just because there is a holiday that says I'm supposed to. So when Holidays roll around, like the upcoming Valentine's Day, neither Brian nor I feel the need to go buy presents or chocolates for each other. We're just not like that and we are both OK with it. I start getting agitated at this particular day at all the money wasted on crappy chocolates and roses that wilt in two days (unless you get Fresh Market roses) when all that money could be saved, or better yet, put to a good cause.
So imagine my excitement when my friend Karla from The Culinary Enthusiast posts this idea for something she calls Love Day 2011. And the best part? Even if you ARE a gift/rose/chocolate person, it doesn't cost YOU anything. Not one penny. Check it out. You look for recipes on her cooking blog, she donates to World Vision. Easy peasy. Need a jump start? Recipes worth searching: Chai, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip, any of her biscotti, Chili, Coffee Ice Cream, just to get your wheels spinning.
