On our rather monotonous trek home from school today, I heard my very first "favorite" song. To this day, when I hear a song from this album cassette tape, I get all warm and fuzzy remembering how much I loved listening to it. In typical Courtney fashion, my favorites aren't the most popular song (meaning, you don't usually hear it on the radio)-- but lucky me, 26 years after I fell in love with it, it finally airs. :)
Listening to the lyrics again today, I remember being 6 and really truly longing for its truth to become reality, and today, at 31 I feel the same exact way. Maybe because it implies that He is proud of me. Or maybe at an early age, I was relieved that the pain of this life was temporary -- even fleeting. Or maybe it had to do with the idea of a loving father to go home to. I don't know why I loved it so much, but it resonated in my little heart so deeply that I can still remember how I felt all these years later. I don't love remembering age 6 (or 5, or 7, for that matter) as they were very painful years for such a little girl, but I am beyond blessed that I found Christ at such an early age, and I'm thankful for this song (as cheesy and late-1970s/early 1980s as it sounds, musically). :) Hopefully it will minister to you, as well.
In a little while we'll be with the Father; can't you see him smile?
In a little while we'll be Home forever, in a while.
We're just here to learn to love Him.
We'll be Home in just a little while.
